On Monday, January 27, a sad event occurred at a residence located in the Jardines del Pedregal neighborhood, in the Álvaro Obregón borough, Mexico City (CDMX). In this incident, Carlos Loreto, an important figure in the music entertainment world in Mexico, lost his life. Loreto, whose work contributed to strengthening the presence of rap artists nationally and internationally, was murdered in his home during a robbery.
At the time of the attack, Loreto was at home when two individuals identified as Francisco Javier N and Bryan N, brothers aged 42 and 29 respectively, entered with the intention of stealing. The Attorney General's Office (FGJ) of CDMX is conducting investigations to clarify the facts and determine if there was any prior relationship between the victim and the aggressors.
Carlos Loreto, owner of the record label Northen Organized Records, was subdued by the criminals, who tied him up to take his belongings and subsequently shot him in the face, causing immediate death. After committing the crime, the aggressors fled the scene, being captured shortly after thanks to an operation deployed by the Citizen Security Secretariat of CDMX.
Loreto's record label, Northen Organized Records (NOR), based in Insurgentes San Borja, Benito Juárez borough, was an important pillar for several artists both in Mexico and in the United States. Pablo Vázquez, head of the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC), reported that several firearms, magazines, cartridges, possible drugs, and other objects were found during the brothers' arrest.
Although authorities continue to investigate the motive of the crime, there is even suspicion that Carlos Loreto may have known his aggressors; this information has not yet been confirmed. Loreto's tragic death has profoundly impacted the music industry and those who knew him, leaving a difficult void to fill in the music entertainment sphere.
